Tree and Shrub care

After leaving work as an Electrical Engineer for a DoD contractor, I went back to school for a 2-year certification in Landscape Maryland at the Institute of Applied Agriculture, University of Maryland, College Park.

Between 2011 and 2025 I worked in Arboriculture, including:

  • +10years as a tree climber and crew leader, performing high-end pruning work, tree removals, stump grinding, and installing hundreds of tree support and lightning protection systems
  • Competed in the MAC-ISA regional Tree Climbing Championship
  • 2+ years on the Plant Healthcare team, diagnosing and treating Tree and Shrub issue on multi-million dollar properties in central and southern Maryland
  • 6mo as a Safety and Training officer for an office of about 25 production workers running daily safety meetings including aerial rescue, first aid/CPR, and Electrical Hazard Awareness Training
  • 9mo as a Sales Arborist

While I am no longer interest in the extreme physical demands of climbing every day, I am more than happy to have a look at your trees and shrubs, make recommendations, review proposals from other companies to make sure you aren't getting ripped off, and even take care of smaller or more specialized jobs for you!

If you need some tree work done, or have any tree questions, please hit me up! I am also happy to look at small landscape improvement projects, depending on my availability.

Some major limb walking while doing a giant removal at a large multi-million dollar estate.
Some typical residential climbing, using lowering lines to control the limbs as they are being lowered over the clients back porch.
Big Removal on a Golf Course. This was a fun one with a lot of open space allowing me to drop some massive pieces before felling the very thick trunk.
Utilizing a crane to pick a fallen pine tree off of a house.
Often when high end trees with poor branch attachments begin to split (or ideally, before they begin to split) wire cable that is nearly invisible from a distance can be installed to help save the tree. Using plastic cable or ropes wrapped around the limbs acts as a tourniquet that can actually kill those limbs over time. Bolts appropriately installed through the limbs is far better in the long run.
